Family Programs

The CCHS is proud to offer monthly free family days at the museum with games and activities. Four times a year, a special event or program or tour of a unique county location, is offered as well. Come take advantage of these free learning opportunities and explore amazing Carver County!

Andrew Peterson Farm Tours

Come and enjoy an informational walking tour of the Historic Andrew Peterson Farmstead, located along Highway 5 in Waconia. Dress comfortably in walking attire and appropriate footwear. Be prepared for sun and warm weather. Must pre-register! Space is limited to 20 people so call (952) 442-4234 to register today!

Family Paint Night: Fish in Aquarium

Kids and adults alike will enjoy a fun and colorful evening of painting, snacks, and drinks as they create their own unique masterpiece. All supplies provided. Create your own quirky and colorful goldfish chilling out in his tank. Your fish-cessories and colors are only limited by your imagination.

This class will be led by CCHS Educator Heidi Gould, a self–taught acrylic artist who believes that with enough confidence, anyone can paint! Paintings from the CCHS collection in a variety of styles and mediums will also be showcased. Class limited to 30 people. Adult and child must attend together.

May Day

Celebrate the start of summer and the changing of seasons with a traditional May Day celebration. Decorate a maypole, make May Day baskets, play related games, and more. All ages are welcome at this traditional celebration!

Family Night Out! Night at the Museum Family Fun!

Enjoy a fun evening out for the whole family. Here is your chance to explore the museum after hours, with a fun family oriented scavenger hunt, followed by a showing of the family comedy, Night at the Museum. After the film, make sure you stick around for treats and activities based on the film. A fun and enjoyable night for all ages. Please remember to pre-register to reserve your spot! Children must be accompanied by an adult!
